Ocean Network Express (ONE) Celebrates Its Sixth Anniversary with Milestone Achievements

On its sixth anniversary, Ocean Network Express (ONE) is looking back on a year full of achievements and significant progress. In the last fiscal year, the global shipping company achieved milestones on several fronts, demonstrating its commitment to innovation, sustainability and operational excellence.

Sustainable Advances:

One of the main highlights of the past year has been the progress made by ONE to transition from conventional to alternative fuels. This move is an integral part of its Green Strategy, aimed at reducing carbon emissions towards net zero by 2050.

  • ONE Innovation: The successful delivery of "ONE INNOVATION", the company's first 24,000 TEU Megamax class ship, will bring economies of scale and reduced carbon emissions due to its advanced hull design and integrated environmental technologies.
  • Methanol and Dual Fuel: The signing of contracts for the construction of twelve 13,000 TEU container ships with methanol and dual fuel. All the vessels are scheduled to be delivered from 2027 and have been designed with features to be flexible and agile.
  • Ammonia Dual Fuel Vessel: The approval of the concept of an ammonia dual fuel vessel by the Approval in Principle (AiP) is another milestone for ONE. This vessel will have a capacity of 3,500 TEUs.
  • ONE Eco Calculator: The launch of this carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions calculator demonstrates the company's commitment to providing visibility and transparency about its emissions. With it, customers have the option of choosing a more environmentally friendly service, i.e. one with fewer emissions.

New Services:

In Latin America, ONE has expanded its service offering with the launch of "LUX - Latin East Coast Europe Express" and "FLX - Florida Latin Express". The LUX service offers direct connections between the East Coast ports of Latin America and important European ports, while FLX meets the growing demand for efficient transportation of reefer containers, connecting the West Coast of South America to the East Coast of the United States.

Expansions and Acquisitions:

To strengthen its global position, ONE completed the acquisition of stakes in terminals on the West Coast of the United States and in Rotterdam, strengthening its presence in strategic ports and securing access to crucial terminal capacity.

In addition, the company has expanded its presence in Latin America with the opening of a new office in Guatemala, demonstrating its commitment to meeting growing regional demands and the country's economic potential.

Innovation:

The installation of remote monitoring devices in its reefer fleet represents a significant advance in ONE's digitalization strategy, providing customers with comprehensive visibility of their cargo and optimized operational decision-making.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):

Last year, ONE celebrated World Clean Up Day with the #SeaTheChange campaign, as part of the #ONEOcean initiative. Employees gathered in different parts of the world to collect trash and debris from waterways. In total, 508 employees in 19 countries removed more than 2,290 kg of waste from 28 sites. In addition to this global action, throughout Latin America, ONE carried out more than 49 CSR actions, focusing on some of the UN's Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

ONE is celebrating its sixth anniversary and is heading towards new seas to offer even more innovation, sustainability and quality services to its clients and partners.
