Update #4 - Manaus Low Water Surcharge and Region Monitoring
ONE Customer,
Thank you for your continued support and for choosing Ocean Network Express (ONE) to cater to your needs.
Due to hydrological developments in the Amazon basin and forecasts of low water levels, ONE is implementing proactive measures to ensure the continuity and safety of shipping services:
LWS (Low Water Surcharge)
From August 1, 2024, ONE will implement the LWS (Low Water Surcharge) applicable to/from Brazil (Manaus Port) across all trades lanes and services and will be valid till further notice.
- Applicable Charge:
Low Water Surcharges (LWS): USD 3400 per box - Effective Date:
- Non-FMC regulated trades: August 01st, 2024.
- FMC regulated trades*, Canada: August 16th, 2024.
(*United States, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, Hawaii)
CURRENT STATUS
The current level of the Rio Negro is considered regular, with daily drops of around 5 cm in Manaus, indicating the beginning of the ebb, typical of this time of year. Although within the normal range, the comparison with the historic low of 2023, one of the lowest ever recorded, indicates that navigability in the region could potentially be affected during the dry season.
