UPDATE #7 – ONE CX1 NAVIGATION AND MONITORING UPDATE - RIO NEGRO, MANAUS 2025
ONE Customer,
As part of our continued commitment to transparency and operational safety, we are closely monitoring the situation of the Rio Negro in Manaus.
The Western Amazon River Captaincy (CFAOC), part of the Brazilian Navy, has issued a new update regarding navigation procedures between Itacoatiara and Manaus, due to the ongoing decrease in the Amazon River water levels.
According to the official statement, stricter guidelines have been implemented to ensure vessel safety and maneuverability:
- Night navigation may be restricted, depending on each vessel’s draft.
- All vessels, regardless of time of day, must reduce their speed to the minimum when navigating through the Tabocal Passage and the Rio Madeira Bay, both critical areas with heavy traffic and shallow depths.
To support logistical planning for companies operating in the region, the Navy has also started providing five-day river level forecasts, which are being closely monitored by ONE.
Hydrological Update
According to the 41st Hydrological Bulletin of the Amazon Basin (issued on October 14), the Rio Negro continues its receding trend, showing an average daily drop of 13 cm.
The current level recorded at the Port of Manaus is 20.27 meters (2,027 cm), and the situation remains classified as “Receding”. The approximate berth drafts are being continuously monitored to ensure operational regularity.
